The Oxford Summer School Concept
The s·a·e·s Oxford Summer School offers a new concept in learning and creative communication for international students approaching their final years at school.
We offer you a wide range of study options combined with the opportunity to discover new interests and develop new skills. This allows you to participate in the design and emphasis of your summer course and shape it to your individual needs and interests.
All our teachers are either graduates of English from Oxford University or teachers with years of experience of teaching English as a foreign language. They are committed, charismatic and demanding.
Group sizes are strictly limited to maximum 5 students and the maximum number of participants at any given time is 80. This allows us to give each individual the personal attention necessary to guarantee a rewarding learning experience.
The course comprises 28 group lessons (45 minutes) per week plus two 30 minute private lessons. Should anyone feel understretched we also run evening workshops and project groups on a variety of subjects. To give your stay in Oxford the ultimate international flavour, there will be evening programmes for you to join, such as:
- A guided tour in Oxford, including visiting “Harry Potter´s school”
- Punting in boats on the river with your study team friends
- An outdoor Shakespeare play in an amphitheatre
- Going to movies and concerts

College Environment
The s·a·e·s English Experience Summer School is located at St. Hilda's College in Oxford. St. Hilda's is one of the Oxford University Colleges, situated on the river in extensive grounds with views of green playing fields and Madgalen Tower. The college is in a quiet cul- de-sac, only minutes from the main High Street and city centre. This is a unique opportunity to experience the ambience of student life in one of the world’s leading universities.
Accommodation
Our students are accommodated in college or in host families. College accommodation is on a half board basis in the main college campus in single rooms with shared baths and showers in the corridor. The rooms are light and functional, the facilities are adequate and average for Oxford colleges. College students can also use the common rooms, laundry and small pantries. Our host families are situated in good residential areas of Oxford and are well served by local public transport. Students can choose between standard or executive families, in both cases accommodation is on a full board basis with a packed lunch being provided for the middle of the day.
Leisure
Oxford is one of the most beautiful cities in England with 39 colleges famous for their spectacular architecture and wonderful gardens. Oxford also has great restaurants and pubs, luscious green parks, interesting museums and a lively arts scene. Concerts at the Sheldonian, open-air theatre in the parks and live music in the clubs are a special feature of Oxford night-life. We organise a full range of activities including team sports, tennis and golf, barbecues and punting with picnics on the river. A London trip is included in the course price and trips to other interesting locations such as Blenheim Palace and Stonehenge are offered regularly at a supplement.
Getting here
Most students travelling to Oxford from abroad fly to one of the London airports. Heathrow is the nearest of these but all have good public transport connections to Oxford. Taxi transfers can be arranged on request. On registration students receive detailed information on how to reach Oxford via public transport and a detailed map of Oxford showing where St.Hilda’s is located.
